Pakistanis will receive ‘uninterrupted’ power supply during Ramadan


Lahore: The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has vowed to provide uninterrupted electricity supply across the country during the holy month of Ramadan, which begins mid-March.

According to Managing Director Engr Dr Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan’s directions, the government-backed power transmission business is continuing with its thorough maintenance schedule for the NTDC transmission lines and grid stations in order to provide uninterrupted electricity to the public.

On Wednesday, an NTCD spokeswoman told the media that the relevant NTDC formations are washing, cleaning, and replacing Disc Insulators as part of the maintenance routine. These activities, he noted, will improve the stability of transmission lines and grid stations, ensuring uninterrupted power delivery during the holy month of Ramadan.

This program also provided shutdowns on 500kV and 220kV transmission line circuits in the southern region.
During these shutdowns, he noted, insulators were cleaned and washed, line hardware nuts and bolts were tightened, and disc insulators on the red, yellow, and blue phases were replaced with RTV coated disc insulators.

According to the spokesman, 73,493 disc insulators were washed and cleaned at 459 locations, 9,804 disc insulators were replaced at 55 locations, more than 688 braces and 570 nuts and bolts were installed, and two damaged disc insulator strings (132kV C.B E5Q1 and E7Q1 C.B Yellow Phase) as well as two healthy EMCO-Make disc insulator strings of 132kV C.B E7Q1 (total four strings) were replaced at the 220kV Grid Station Jhampir-1.

The maintenance programme is overseen by the general manager (Asset Management-South), he said, adding that the NTDC managing director has praised the performance of the relevant transmission line divisions and pushed them to complete the work on time.
