Widow of Navalny vows to continue husband’s opposition to Putin


Wife of late opposition leader Alexei Navalny, Yulia Navalnaya promised on Monday to carry on her husband’s work and accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of being involved in her husband’s demise.

In a video message, she stated, “We will tell you about it soon. We know why Putin killed Alexei three days ago.†“But continuing to fight is the most important thing we can do for Alexei and for ourselves. I implore you to stand beside me as I carry on Alexei Navalny’s efforts and defend our nation.

“Russian opposition politician and longtime opponent of the Kremlin and Russian President Vladimir Putin, Navalny, passed away in prison on Friday at the age of 47, according to the official prison service.

There had been “no statement from doctors, no information from forensic experts, no final information from the Federal Penitentiary Service, no information about the causes of death,†according to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov, who had earlier denied any role in the death.â€

According to Navalny’s team, officials at a morgue in the Arctic city where it’s thought his body is probably being kept turned away his elderly mother and attorneys on Monday morning. Navalny’s team also claimed that the officials would not confirm if Navalny’s body was present.

According to Navalny spokeswoman Kyra Yarmysh, the Investigative Committee of Russia, which frequently takes on political issues, has also notified his family that the investigation into his death has been “extended,†indicating they will not be turning over the body just yet.

Later, Navalny’s team announced that while tests are conducted, his body will be kept by officials for 14 days. According to Navalny’s team, they think he was killed, and they’ve accused the Russian government of hiding his body in order to hide proof of how he passed away.

Yarmysh wrote on X, “They lie, buy time for themselves and do not even hide it.â€Navalnaya was expected to address a meeting of the European foreign ministers’ meeting in Brussels on Monday.
