Pakistani journalist Imran Riaz Khan was arrested from his residence in Lahore late Thursday night, his brother Usman Riaz confirmed.

Anchorperson Imran Riaz was at his home located in a private housing society near the Quaid-e-Azam Industrial Area in Lahore when he was detained.

Video shared on social media shows police entering the journalist’s home, but the police have not provided an update regarding his arrest.Â

Imran Riaz Khan’s brother, Usman Riaz, took to social media to share the news, initiating discussions and calls for transparency regarding the circumstances leading to the arrest. Additionally, his name appeared in the trending section of the disrupted social media platform X.

Imran Riaz was apprehended hours after the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Cybercrime Wing summoned him and Asad Toor in connection with an investigation into the anti-judicial campaign on social media. He was summoned to the FIA office in Islamabad.Â

YouTuber Imran Riaz has been detained on multiple occasions. He was abducted in 2023 and subsequently disappeared for over four months. He later returned in September in poor health which started a discussion on the internet about press freedom and the safety of journalists in Pakistan.
