KARACHI: Three education boards in Sindh have encountered prolonged delays in announcing the results of intermediate part-I examinations, stretching over a period of 10 months.
This delay stems from administrative instability within the boards, characterized by frequent changes in chairpersons and the appointment of commissioners to these positions. This situation marks the first instance in the province’s history where such delays have occurred in releasing inter-part-I exam results.
The affected boards include those of Hyderabad, Nawabshah and Mirpurkhas, responsible for declaring results for science, arts, and commerce groups. Notably, this delay raises concerns regarding the feasibility of conducting the upcoming annual exams for intermediate students within the next six weeks.
Interestingly, neither the provincial chief minister nor the universities and boards department of the provincial government seem to be cognizant of the delayed exam results or the challenges faced by the students.
In Nawabshah, the appointment of the commissioner as the board chairman during the caretaker government’s tenure disrupted the process of checking exam copies and result preparation. However, efforts are underway to resume these activities, with expectations of releasing results within the next ten days.

Similar administrative irregularities have affected the Hyderabad and Mirpurkhas boards, where commissioners were appointed as chairpersons, leading to disruptions in day-to-day operations and result preparation.
Additionally, concerns have been raised about the influence of administrative appointments on exam outcomes, particularly evident in Karachi where the appointment of the commissioner as chairman of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi has reportedly impacted result decisions.
