LAHORE: Punjab government has announced the reinstatement of free WiFi services in Lahore. Initially launched under former Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration, the project faced a hiatus during the PTI government’s tenure in 2021. However, following the recent assumption of power by the Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) [PML-N], led by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the initiative has been revitalized.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s announcement of the project’s revival underscores the government’s commitment to fostering digital inclusion and accessibility. With an initial rollout encompassing 50 strategic locations across Lahore, including key public areas, educational institutions, and hospitals, the government aims to expand coverage to additional areas in the city progressively.
