ISLAMABAD : The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has been officially requested by the Press Information Department (PID) to examine the distribution of at least ten vehicles that have been confiscated and altered/modified/restructured at nominal prices.
According to the PID, these cars are necessary for them to carry out their official duties. The FBR has distributed similar amounts of modified cars to a number of public sector organizations and prominent individuals, including former FBR leaders, though questions have been raised regarding the distributions’ transparency.
The FBR’s Directorate of Intelligence and Investigation Customs Wing received an official solicitation stating that the PID, as the federal government’s main projection and publicity arm, meets the needs of various government officials for publicity and keeps them informed about public opinions as reported in the media.
The PID, which is in charge of media relations, support, and facilitation as well as VIP protocol, maintains that proper logistics and technological infrastructure are necessary for the PID’s operations, which include press conference planning and policy distribution.
The PID emphasized in their request that it is responsible for setting up press conferences and interviews with high-ranking officials on matters of national concern as well as making sure that noteworthy events receive the proper publicity. In order to guarantee prompt coverage of events, the department also arranges for senior media personnel’s transportation while keeping an eye on the nation’s security posture and global issues.

The PID communicated its requirement for a minimum of 10 vehicles for official duties, stressing the urgency of the situation. The appeal was brought about by strict federal austerity measures that limited the secretariat’s ability to purchase new cars.
It has been discovered that vehicles that have been modified or seized can be disposed of in accordance with Section 182 of the Customs Act, 1969 by contacting the Directorate General of I&I-Customs, Islamabad.
In order to help the department carry out its official duties, the PID formally requests that the Directorate General/FBR assign at least ten vehicles. The Directorate General of I&I-Customs, Islamabad, will set the small token price for access to these vehicles, which is expressly requested in the plea.
