While still suffering from the damages brought on by flooding from earlier this year’s precipitation, Balochistan is ready for more rain. The Provincial Disaster Management Authority reports that 259 houses were demolished and at least nine people have perished in Balochistan as a result of the floods. According to PDMA, the fatalities happened in Barkhan, Pishin, Kech, Kharan, and Chaman. At least 1,040 residences suffered partial damage in addition to the homes that were totally destroyed by the rain and floods.

The infrastructure of the province was also impacted by the floods; four highways and one bridge were totally destroyed. Meanwhile, further rain is expected in Quetta, Chaman, Ziarat, Pishin, Kalat, Chaghi, Naseerabad, Mastung, and Noshki during the course of the next 24 hours. In the meanwhile, the province’s relief efforts are being carried out by the army and navy in collaboration with district and provincial authorities.
