LAHORE: The new academic year commenced across Punjab on Monday, however, students in Lahore are compelled to attend school without essential study materials.
Due to limited book production as a result of rising paper costs and budgetary constraints at the Punjab Textbook Board, about 48,000 schools in the province of Lahore are facing a shortage of free books.
Another problem that Lahore’s teachers are facing is the hassle of having to go to warehouses to find books.
The Punjab Textbook Board has made an attempt to publish and give free textbooks to Lahore schools, but timely delivery is still a problem.
In addition, no school has yet implemented the new curriculum for the current academic year.
