ISLAMABAD: The nomination for the chairmanship of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) a crucial parliamentary watchdog has finally been settled with Sher Afzal Marwat emerging as the chosen candidate.
Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), made this announcement on Tuesday. Imran Khan, the founder of the PTI, made the choice and announced Marwat’s selection at a press conference that followed a visit at Adiala Jail.
This announcement comes following a period of speculation and discussion within the party and Marwat coming at odds with PTI’s Shibli Faraz for suggesting that Imran Khan has chosen Hamid Raza from the PTI-allied Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) for this post.
Marwat had made public that he is the candidate that the previous PTI chairman has selectedand that speculations by Shibli Faraz and media were baseless. The fact that Imran Khan had kicked Marwat off the focal person’s team earlier in April added fuel to the debate surrounding the matter.
