PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Faisal Karim Kundi sworn in as the governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), here on Saturday.
Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court (PHC) Ishtiaq Ibrahim administered the oath of office to Kundi in a ceremony at Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor House.
Earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari approved the appointment of governors for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan.
PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had nominated two senior party leaders for the governorships of KP and Punjab a day ago under the agreement reached with the Muslim League (N) before joining the coalition government.
Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, president of the provincial chapter of PML-N in Balochistan, was appointed as the new governor.

In a press release issued from the President’s House, it is said that President Zardari approved the appointment of People’s Party Central Information Secretary Faisal Karim Kundi as KP, Sardar Salim Haider as Governor of Punjab and Mandokhail as Governor of Balochistan. It said that this sanction was given under Article 101(1) of the Constitution.
