RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Chief (COAS) General Asim Munir has promoted three Major Generals including the current DG ISPR Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Major General Omer Ahmed Bukhari, and Major General Inayat Hussain to the rank of Lieutenant General on Friday.
COAS Gen. Asim Munir also approved the appointments for the three newly promoted three-star generals.
Lt Gen Omer Ahmed Bokhari has been posted as Commander 11 Corps (Peshawar), Lt Gen Inayat as Chief of Logistics Services (GHQ), and Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif to remain the chief of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Lt Gen Omer Ahmad Bukhari won the honorary sword in the PMA’s 84-long course while Inayat Hussain, who hails from Hunza, has won the presidential gold medal. They both were serving as Vice Chief of General Staff (VCGS) at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.

Lt Gen Omer Ahmad Bukhari was previously posted as DG Rangers Sindh. He also served as Commandant of the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Kakul.
Newly promoted and posted as Chief of Logistics Staff, Lt Gen Inayat Hussain was working as Vice Chief of General Staff at GHQ. Before that, he served as GOC light infantry division Gwadar (CPEC division) & Chief Instructor NDU. It is noteworthy that he was Commander 102 Brigade Peshawar when the APS Peshawar incident happened in 2014
Newly promoted Lt Gen Ahmad Sharif Ch is currently DG ISPR at GHQ. He has previously served as DG Planning, Strategic Plans Division (SPD). As a two-star general, he also served as Director General of the Defense Science & Technology Organization (DESTO). He is the son of a nuclear scientist Sultan Bashiruddin Mehmood.
