KARACHI: In Pakistan, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on Friday, June 7, 2024, (today) at the Pakistan Meteorological Department in Karachi to see the Dhul Hijjah crescent. Concurrent zonal meetings will held in other provincial capitals, including Islamabad, beginning 30 minutes before the evening prayer.
Saudi Arabia has announced the sighting of the crescent moon marking the beginning of Dhul Hijjah, the last month of the Islamic calendar. This sighting confirms that Eid ul-Adha will be celebrated in the Kingdom on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The moonsighting efforts focused on key locations in Sudair and Tumair, where the Supreme Court typically bases its decisions.
The confirmation of the crescent moon’s sighting officially commences the month of Dhul Hijjah, leading up to Eid ul-Adha, one of the most significant Islamic holidays.
As per Met Office prediction, Eid ul Adha is expected to be held on June 17, 2024 (Monday). Officials predict the new moon of Dhul-Hijjah is likely to be sighted today June 7.
