KARACHI: Former Sindh governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad has announced the launching of a new political party days after he confirmed that he is returning to politics following a years-long hiatus.
Ishratul Ibad, a former leader of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) asked MQM-P leaders to join his political party and keep his differences with them aside.
Dr. Ishrat, who served as the governor for 14 years, has been staying in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) since relinquishing his post of Sindh governor in 2016.
Speaking to journalists via video link, he emphasized the urgent need for strict accountability against corruption to ensure economic prosperity, adding that the current government has less time.
Having served as governor for 14 years, Dr Ibad has been residing in the United Arab Emirates since stepping down in 2016. He invited MQM-Pakistan leaders to join his new party, urging them to set aside past differences.
“Political and economic instability has reached dangerous levels, noting that the security situation was also deteriorating,” he added.
