ISLAMABAD: The federal government has ended the Saturday weekly holiday for all public schools and colleges in the federal capital.
Ministry of Education issued a notification in this regard and the decision will be effective from August 10.
The notification stated that Saturday will no longer be an off day for all government educational institutions in Islamabad.
Furthermore, the notification stated that this initiative is intended for remedial classes, foundational literacy, and the promotion of healthy activities such as sports and mind games on Saturdays.
These sessions shall be conducted for two hours and the students will have the option to skip these classes, it added. “The staff is required to observe regular working hours on Saturdays. Attendance of all teaching/non-teaching staff shall be mandatory,” the ministry notification said.
This decision was taken on the orders of the Secretary of Federal Education and Vocational Training.
