
KARACHI: Major markets in Karachi, including Sarafa Bazaar, Medicine Market, Jodia Bazaar, and other wholesale markets, will be closed today in support of the people of Gaza.
Rizwan Irfan, President of Karachi Electronic Dealers Association, Jamil Paracha, leader of Karachi Tajir Ittehad, and other traders have called upon traders to close their businesses in support of the Palestinian cause for the day.
Trader leader Shakir Fancy confirmed the closing of the markets in Mithadar, Old City Area, and Sarafa Bazaar, while Abdul Rauf Ibrahim stated that Jodia Bazaar, the largest wholesale market in the country, would also close its operations concerning today‘s day of mourning for the Palestinian people.
Aslam Polani, General Secretary of Jodia Bazaar and the Aram Bagh Traders Association, fully supports the planned closure of the markets, with the Medicine Markets in the area also closed.
This protest took place following widespread destruction and casualties resulting from reports of continued Israeli bombing on a grand scale in Gaza. The business community within Karachi has come together to denounce the actions of Israel and to show solidarity with the people of Gaza.
