
ISLAMABAD: The ongoing Israel and Palestine issue has sparked outrage in Pakistan, with several protests being held across the country boycotting famous Israeli brands like Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), with the most recent protest being held outside a KFC outlet in I-8 Markaz, Islamabad.
The peaceful protest aims to express solidarity with the people of Palestine. The protestors did not act violently and showcased no vandalism or ignorance, expressing solidarity in a powerful yet respectful manner.
Earleir, several violent mobs attacked fast-food outlets of global chains in different cities of Sindh, including Karachi and MirpurKhas, while holding protests against Israeli aggression in Gaza.
As per details, the protestors turned violent and vandalized the multinational fast food outlet KFC in Mirpurkhas on late Tuesday night, throwing stones and breaking windows.
They also looted the restaurant’s kitchen and damaged furniture, along with setting part of the building on fire.
Similarly, three KFC outlets and one Domino’s Pizza restaurant were targeted, resulting in damage to the outlets but no reported injuries.
Karachi police said that over a 100 activists of a religious party attempted to ransack another outlet of the fast-food chain on M-9 motorway on Wednesday evening, but the police thwarted their plan.
Police said that around 20 suspects were arrested in Mirpuras, while nine were apprehended by police in Karachi, and separate FIRs had been lodged against miscreants.
In addition to that, another KFC outlet came under attack in Lahore’s Defense Housing Authority (DHA) when scores of people pelted it with stones, shattering windowpanes and damaging some of its portions.
Eyewitnesses say that the attack was unleashed all of a sudden by unidentified men, shattering the glass doors and windowpanes of the fast-food outlet.
The KFC boycott highlights the challenges companies face in navigating complex geopolitical issues. Companies operating in multiple countries must balance their business interests with the sentiments of their customers.
