ISLAMABAD: General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the former COAS, and Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed, the former DG of ISI, vehemently denied the claims made by JUI-F chairman Fazlur Rehman that they were responsible for the overthrow of former prime minister Imran Khan.
A media outlet was informed by sources close to former army generals that Fazlur Rehman ought to verify his facts before making any accusations. They alleged that months before to the vote of no-confidence against Imran Khan, Faiz Hameed had been moved to the position of DG ISI.

They added that when the motion was put forward, Maulana might have overlooked the fact that Gen. Faiz was the corps commander of Peshawar.
However, sources close to Gen. Bajwa claimed that the former head of the army met twice with the leader of the JUI-F, one of which took place during the latter’s lengthy protest against the PTI government. The sources stated that it was not a pleasant meeting.

On the orders of the then-prime minister Imran Khan, Gen. Bajwa met with opposition leaders, including Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto, and Akhtar Mengal, at the second meeting.
Both army officers had requested that the opposition withdraw the resolution of no confidence and let the PTI to serve out its whole term during the meeting in which a second general was present.
