Students who want to take admission in medical colleges for MBBS can soon get extra assistance from the provincial government as it intends to set up six more free MDCAT preparation centres in the province.
The aim of the proposed expansion is to give more access to the quality preparation facilities to the students who want to get admission in medical and dental colleges. The initiative is being thought of because of the rising need of free coaching programs among MDCAT candidates, officials say.
The new centres are to be established in the main divisional cities and will enable an increased number of pupils to receive help and advice from professionals in exam preparation and help without any charge.
An Application for expansion has been made to the Higher Education Department. The new schools will join the Government’s current initiative to provide education to gifted students at various schools throughout the province of Punjab.
In recent years, the free MDCAT coaching program has become popular and has assisted thousands of students in preparing for one of the most competitive entrance examinations in Pakistan. The initiative has been well received by many students and parents alike and seen as a great asset for those that are unable to afford high priced private academies.
Dozen of preparation centers were running in the province of Punjab in last MDCAT sessions and were helpful for the candidates preparing for medical and dental admissions, officials pointed out.
The final date and venue of the new centers will be announced by the government once it has received formal approval. Preparatory activities might start in the upcoming few days so that students can prepare well enough prior to MDCAT 2026.
The expansion is expected to give a boost to quality learning opportunities and provide equal opportunities for students from all backgrounds who aspire to become doctors and health care professionals.
The program is part of Punjab’s ongoing efforts to promote educational advancement and assist students in their preparation for the Higher Education Entrance Examination (HSEE).
