Islamabad: The federal government has imposed restrictions on the import of onions and potatoes.
According to details, the Ministry of Commerce has issued a formal notification following the approval of the federal cabinet. The federal government had given approval to impose restrictions on the import of onions and potatoes until April 15, 2024.
Earlier, the federal cabinet had approved restrictions on the import of onions and potatoes until April 15, 2024. The first meeting of the newly elected federal cabinet under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was held, during which the country’s economic situation was discussed and important decisions were made. Restrictions on the import of bananas and onions were imposed to ensure ample availability in the market.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed to immediately establish a committee to control the prices of food items. The cabinet stated that the committee would work closely with provincial governments to monitor the prices of food items. The Prime Minister also instructed strict action against unnecessary price hikes and illegal profiteering in essential commodities.
