ISLAMABAD: Ministry of Federal Education & Professional Training on Saturday clarified the notification shared on social media, stated that they had not directed to organized the UNESCO’s Dance for Education program.
In a clarification issued, it is stated that education ministry and National Commission for UNESCO did not make it compulsory for schools to participate in #DanceForEducation campaign.
Education Ministry stated that the notification was circulated solely for informational purposes regarding UNESCO’s international initiatives. “The letter issued earlier is hereby withdrawn, and resulting misunderstanding is sincerely regretted,” the notification reads.

The clarification letter further said that Dance for Education program, is part of a broader campaign aimed at emphasizing the importance of education worldwide.
Earlier on March 29, the notification titled “Dance for Education” was issued. It was followed by a letter from the FDE deputy director.
The letter read, “I am excited to invite you to join UNESCO’s #DanceforEducation campaign. This initiative coincides with the release of the song “Education in the Air” by Goodwill Ambassador A’Salfo and Magic System. It aims to highlight education’s transformative power and its role in shaping a more just and sustainable world.”
On which a notification was issued to hold a dance competition according to UNESCO. According to the notification, dance videos were asked to be shared on social media.
While the parents expressed concern regarding the notification as being against Islamic values and urged Education Ministry to cancel it. In view of this situation, the Ministry of Education has canceled the notification of dance education.
