LAHORE: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a heatwave, rain and thunderstorm alert across province for the current month of May, here on Friday.
As per the PDMA spokesman, most of the districts of the province are likely to receive dust storms and thundershowers till May 18.
Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Jhelum and Gujranwala are likely to receive rain with strong winds.
In addition, rain and thundershowers are expected in Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali.
The PDMA has also indicated that the temperature may rise by an average of 8 degrees this month, the heatwave is likely to affect Punjab from May 21 to May 27. During this time, the weather is likely to be dry and the temperature will be 6 degrees above normal.

Authorities have issued alerts to district administrations in line with the directives of the CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz.
The public is advised to take precautions due to the increased intensity of heat and sun exposure. Those working outdoors should take measures to avoid heatstroke.
Additionally, alerts have been issued to the health department, irrigation department, construction and communications, local government, and livestock department.
