LAHORE: The Punjab government has taken swift action to maintain law and order in Faisalabad and Bahawalpur by imposing Section 144 for two days, starting from October 2 to October 3 ahead Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) power show.
This ban prohibits all forms of political gatherings, sit-ins, public meetings, demonstrations, protests, and similar activities in the cities to ensure public safety.
The Punjab Home Department has issued a notification implementing Section 144 and directing mass publicity efforts, citing concerns for maintaining law and order, protecting human lives, and safeguarding property. This move aims to prevent any potential disruptions and maintain peace in the region.
The Home Department expressed concerns that public gatherings could become soft targets for terrorists, given the prevailing security threats.
Earlier in the morning Punjab govt imposed Section 144 in Mianwali for seven days (October 1 to 7), ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) powershow. This decision follows the PTI’s call for a protest in Mianwali on October 02, 2024.
To ensure public safety, two companies of Rangers will be deployed in the area from October 1 to October 3. The restriction will remain in place until October 07, 2024.
This move aims to prevent any potential disruptions and maintain peace in the region.
