
RAWALPINDI: (Malik Imran)- A prominent bakery in Rawalpindi “Tehzeeb Bakery” has come under fire after allegedly substandard and stale cake caused food poising among six individuals, including children.
As per the details, four children were hospitalized for several hours, but doctors provided timely medical aid, saving their lives.
The incident happened on Eid ul Fitr day, when Ahmad Sher Awan, a resident of Garden Avenue, purchased a cake worth PKR 2150 from Tehzeeb Bakery in Bahria Town, Phase 7.
Awan said, the case, which was consumed by his family, led to the severe illness of his children: 16-year-old Ammar, 23-year-old Zohaib, 24-year-old Ali Hamza and three young girls.
The victims were shipted to a private hospital in Phase 4, where doctors confirmed food poisoning and revealed that the children life and death, and the entire family went through immense distress, Awan said, adding that the family immediately contacted the bakery regarding the situation.
A person named Hamza, who indetified himself as the bakery’s manager, responded and sent two individuals to collect the remaining cake for laboratory testing. He aslo sent a sample for examination.
However, when Awan contacted Hamza again to inquire about actions taken the bakery’s staff, he found his respose unstatisfactory and unprofessional. “Despite the agony our family faced, they were not responsive to our conserns, ” Awan stated.
Awan further said that, while their primary intention was not to harm the bakery’s business, they flef compelled to take legal action due to the serious nature of incident. He is now in consultation with legal experts and intends to pursue the matter in court, as well as report it to the Deputy Commissioner of Rawalpindi, the Food Authority, and the relevant authorities.
The bakery’s management, when contacted, responded by saying that Tehzeeb Bakery follows all health and safety standards in the preparation of its products. The shit manager, Faizan said said that the bakery takes great care in ensuring the quality and quantity of their products and denies any negligence. He mentioned that the cake in question was sent to lab testing immediately after complaint was received.
