LAHORE: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bukhari said on Saturday that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will announce another piece of good news for the nation in the next few days.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, she said that the reduction in electricity prices would provide much-needed relief to the people. “A lot of hard work had to be done to reduce electricity rates. It was not an easy task to convince the IMF for this.”
Azma claimed that the country’s economy is now on the right track.
She added that while the majority of people welcomed the reduction in electricity prices, there were some who were not at all happy with the government’s decision.
Referring to the PTI, Azma said that a party that is bent on creating chaos in the country did not want the government to announce relief for the people.
She added that leaders of a political party wrote letters to the IMF so that the country could default.
The minister said that the threat of a march towards Islamabad by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur was not new.
Rejecting the impression that there were differences between the PML-N and the PPP, he said that the PPP was an ally of the former and there was no bad blood between the two parties.
He advised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to sit with the prime minister and convey his grievances to him.
