KARACHI: The festive spirit is building up as the first truck loaded with sacrificial animals has arrived at the Northern Bypass cattle market, marking the early launch of one of the city’s biggest seasonal livestock bazaars in preparation for Eidul Azha.
The arrival of the truck, carrying 27 bulls and cows owned by livestock trader Javed Bhatti from Ahmedpur Sharqia, was met with excitement and traditional celebrations, including drum beats and dancing, by onlookers and youth.
Shahab Ali, the Administrator of this year’s market, revealed that preparations began soon after Eidul Fitr, earlier than in previous years. Several improvements have been introduced to enhance the experience for traders and buyers.
These include a 50% reduction in parking fees compared to last year and permission for traders to bring their animal fodder. Additionally, all sacrificial animals will receive free veterinary check-ups to ensure their health and well-being.
The administration has also prioritized animal welfare by providing each large animal with 30 litres of water daily and 8 litres for small animals, all free of charge.
These measures aim to create a more efficient and humane environment for the animals and a smoother experience for those looking to purchase sacrificial animals for Eidul Azha.
