Today, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is planning “peaceful protests” across the country to protest what it describes as “blatant rigging” of the national election on February 8.

“Imran Khan’s PTI has called for nationwide protests against the unprecedented, massive, and blatant manipulation of the 2024 General Elections, which resulted in the PTI losing a two-thirds majority in Parliament and 180 National Assembly seats,” the party stated on X. Protests are scheduled to begin at 2 PM at several venues around the nation, according to PTI.

Nevertheless, the Islamabad administration refused them permission to protest in front of the Islamabad Press Club, which put an end to their intentions.

The PTI’s application was denied by the government, which argued that Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), which is in effect in the city, prohibited demonstrations.

Additionally, the administration has requested that the public abstain from attending any political events. It further stated, “Islamabad police should take action against those taking part in the protest demonstration.”

PTI’s claims were denied by the Pakistani Election Commission, which insisted that there were legal channels available to resolve any complaints pertaining to the election.
