Peshawar Safe City Project Connected With BRT Camera Network

The Peshawar Safe City Project has taken another step to improve public security by connecting its surveillance system with cameras installed at Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations across the city.

The Safe City Project and the TransPeshawar have signed an agreement to share the live footage of their cameras for effective monitoring and quick action on emergency.

The integration will enhance the city’s security infrastructure, enabling real-time access to surveillance footage from BRT stations, officials said. The move is forecast to improve the ability of law enforcement agencies to respond faster in incidents of accidents, security concerns or other emergencies.

Officials say the partnership also will enhance the safety of thousands of daily users of the BRT service. Live monitoring will enable authorities to better monitor public transport facilities and to better identify possible suspicious activities.

The pact is considered as the initial step towards technical collaboration between the two organisations and expansion of Peshawar’s Safe City surveillance system.

Authorities believe the new connection between BRT cameras and the Safe City control centre will improve public safety, strengthen security monitoring and support faster action whenever an incident is reported.
