Pakistan has warned that any direct or indirect attack on a member state of the Makkah alliance would prompt a collective response, underlining the importance of regional security and the protection of Islam’s holiest sites.
Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said the security of holy places was non-negotiable.
His remarks came amid concerns over Houthi attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and the wider security situation in the region.
The military spokesperson reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s defence, saying the country was already extending assistance and would continue to do so.
The warning also highlighted the significance Pakistan attaches to the collective security of countries associated with the Makkah alliance.
Saudi Arabia has faced security concerns linked to Houthi attacks, making defence cooperation an important issue.
The protection of holy sites remains a particularly sensitive issue across the Muslim world.
