Petrol Price Reduced by Rs5.45 Per Litre, Diesel Also Becomes Cheaper in Pakistan

Petrol prices in Pakistan have been reduced by Rs5.45 per litre, bringing relief to consumers and the transport sector, under a new notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The revised rates came into effect on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, after being announced on Tuesday.

Under the notification, the price of petrol has fallen from Rs374.51 to Rs369.06 per litre. High-speed diesel has become cheaper by Rs3.68 per litre, falling from Rs395.20 to Rs391.52 per litre. The reduction is the second cut in two days and follows a 30-day arrangement under which oil refineries will contribute a cumulative Rs15 billion towards the petroleum levy.

The latest cut is expected to ease the burden on motorists, commuters and businesses that depend on road transport. Fuel prices affect the cost of almost everything transported by road, so a reduction in petrol and diesel prices is often welcomed as a step that can help slow the rise in prices of goods and services.

Despite the cut, taxes and duties remain a large part of the price paid at the pump. Taxes and duties of Rs114 per litre are still charged on petrol, while Rs100 per litre is charged on diesel. Officials say the levy and tax component continues to be a major factor in the final retail price.

The government and regulators have been reviewing fuel prices closely as international oil prices move and domestic supply arrangements change. The latest revision shows how changes in the petroleum levy arrangement with refineries can be passed on to consumers in the form of lower prices, even though the tax burden remains high.
