Government Lowers Kerosene Price by Rs6.85 Per Litre, Petrol and Diesel Rates Unchanged

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a reduction in the price of kerosene oil, offering fresh relief to consumers, while keeping petrol and high-speed diesel prices unchanged in the latest fuel price review.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of kerosene has been reduced by Rs6.85 per litre, bringing the new rate to Rs227.05 per litre. The revised price has taken effect immediately.

Officials said the adjustment follows a review of international petroleum prices and recommendations submitted to the federal government under the country’s fuel pricing mechanism.

Despite the cut in kerosene prices, the government decided not to change the rates of petrol and high-speed diesel. Petrol will continue to be sold at Rs299.50 per litre, while high-speed diesel will remain at Rs311.47 per litre.

Meanwhile, the petroleum levy on both major fuels has been revised upward. Government sources said the levy on diesel has increased to Rs79.54 per litre, while the levy on petrol now stands at Rs66.64 per litre.

The levy on kerosene, however, remains unchanged at Rs20.36 per litre.

Petroleum prices in Pakistan are reviewed periodically after assessing trends in the international oil market, exchange rates, import costs and applicable taxes. Any changes are announced through official notifications after approval from the federal government.

The latest reduction in kerosene prices is expected to provide some relief to households and businesses that rely on the fuel, particularly in areas where it remains a primary source of energy.
