Police Seize More Than 10kg of Hashish, Arrest Suspect in Dera Ismail Khan

Police have arrested a suspected drug trafficker and recovered more than 10 kilograms of hashish during a snap checking operation in Dera Ismail Khan, officials said on Sunday.

The operation was carried out by Town Police as part of the district’s ongoing crackdown on narcotics and other criminal activities. Officers stopped a suspect during routine checking and searched him after noticing suspicious behaviour.

According to police, the search led to the recovery of 10.425 kilograms of hashish, which was allegedly being transported by the suspect. The man, identified as Muhammad Rizwan, a resident of Shorkot, was taken into custody at the scene, while the narcotics were seized as evidence.

Police have registered a case under the relevant legal provisions and shifted the suspect to the police station for further investigation.

Officials said investigators are now trying to determine where the drugs came from and whether the suspect has links to a larger drug trafficking network operating inside or outside the district.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior police officers on the directives of Dera Ismail Khan District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed, who has ordered intensified action against drug dealers across the district.

Speaking after the operation, police said the campaign against narcotics would continue without discrimination. They added that drug trafficking poses a serious threat to society, particularly to young people, and those involved in the illegal trade will be dealt with strictly under the law.

Police also appealed to the public to report information about drug dealers and other criminal activities, saying community cooperation plays an important role in helping law enforcement combat the spread of narcotics.
