PCB Raises Match Fees for Pakistan Cricketers in Major Financial Overhaul

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has approved a significant increase in match fees for national cricketers as part of a wider financial and structural reform package for the 2026-27 season.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the PCB Board of Governors, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, where members unanimously approved the board’s surplus budget along with several measures aimed at strengthening Pakistan cricket.

Under the revised payment structure, players representing Pakistan in Test matches will now receive Rs1.5 million per match, while ODI players will earn up to Rs750,000, depending on their contract category. Match fees for T20 Internationals have also been increased, with top-category players set to receive Rs650,000 per game.

The PCB has also announced a major boost for domestic cricket. Match fees for players participating in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy have more than tripled, increasing from Rs30,000 to Rs100,000 per match. Reserve players will now receive Rs50,000, replacing the previous payment of Rs15,000.

In another key development, the board approved greater administrative and financial independence for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) and cleared the budget for the tournament’s upcoming 12th edition.

The domestic cricket budget has also been increased from Rs3 billion to Rs4 billion, while Rs6.7 billion has been allocated for stadium upgrades, infrastructure projects and improvements to cricket facilities across the country.

The PCB also approved funding for women’s domestic ODI and T20 competitions, plans to make 12 additional cricket grounds operational, and the installation of a modern biomechanics system at the High Performance Centre in Lahore.

Officials say the new financial package is designed to strengthen Pakistan’s cricket structure, improve player welfare and support the long-term development of the game at both domestic and international levels.
