Pakistan and Uzbekistan Agree to Expand Cooperation in Trade, Education and Connectivity

Pakistan and Uzbekistan agree to further develop cooperation in trade, education and connectivity. Cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan in the field of trade, education and connectivity is to be expanded.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have reiterated the importance of deepening their bilateral relationship, both countries reiterating the need to enhance cooperation in key areas of trade, education, transportation, agriculture and regional connectivity.

It was developed during a meeting between Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan and Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal in Islamabad.

In the course of the discussions, both sides examined the current state of cooperation and discussed new possible avenues for expanding economic and strategic ties. The officials shared the need of promoting regional connectivity and strengthening people to people interaction through concrete measures.

The focus was particularly on education cooperation. The two countries spoke about cooperation in conducting joint research projects, sending students and faculty members for exchange and professional training, and other academic collaborations to deepen institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing.

The meeting also discussed deepening partnership in the agriculture and livestock sector, communications and transportation infrastructure, and strengthening agriculture and livestock development. Both sides agreed that deepening cooperation in these areas can bring new opportunities for the economy and promote regional development.

The officials also talked about the potential of academic qualifications to be recognized in co-accreditation arrangements to facilitate better educational opportunity for the students and professionals between the two countries.

The Minister, on educational ties, emphasized the importance of language learning and exchange in academics. Uzbekistan may be a destination for Pakistani students to study Russian language and to have access to educational opportunities in Central Asia, he added.

Pakistan and Uzbekistan have been enjoying friendly diplomatic relations for many years and the both countries are working towards strengthening their economic and cultural relations as part of the wider cooperation within the region.

The latest battle marks the deepening interest of both countries in developing long-term cooperation and cooperation in the areas of trade and investment, education and connectivity in the region.
