Sindh Announces 20,000 Google Career Certificate Scholarships for Students

The Sindh government has announced 20,000 Google Career Certificate scholarships for students studying in public universities across the province. The initiative has been launched in partnership with Google and Tech Valley Pakistan to help young people learn modern digital skills.

Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah unveiled the programme during a ceremony at NED University, where the province’s first Google Gemini for Education Corner was also officially opened. Government officials, university representatives, Google delegates and students attended the event.

The scholarship programme will give students free access to internationally recognised Google Career Certificates in some of the world’s fastest-growing fields. These include Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Project Management, UX Design, Digital Marketing, E-Commerce and IT Support.

Officials said the programme is designed to prepare students for future job opportunities by providing practical skills that are in high demand across Pakistan and around the world.

Alongside the student scholarships, Google experts also organised a special AI training session for Sindh cabinet members, advisers and senior government officials in collaboration with Tech Valley Pakistan. The session focused on how artificial intelligence can improve government services and decision-making.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said technology is changing every sector, and young people should be given the opportunity to develop digital skills that will help them compete in the global market. He added that AI should be used to support better governance and improve public services while keeping human decision-making at the centre.

The launch of the Google Gemini for Education Corner at NED University is being seen as another important step in Sindh’s efforts to promote digital education and prepare students for an increasingly technology-driven future.
